Recently, Guangzhou Research Institute of Synthetic Materials ‘s paper "ISO 11617 <Building Sealant Artificial Weathering Test Method> International Standards Formulation" won the third prize of the 2017 China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation Science and Technology Progress Award.
The paper “Test Method for Artificial Weathering of Building Sealants” has standardized the method for determining the weathering resistance of sealants used in international construction and civil engineering, taking into account the effects of glue movement, sunlight, temperature and humidity on the sealant. It established a global unified detection and evaluation method for the weathering resistance of sealant and effectively solves the problem of how to characterize the aging resistance of dynamic building sealant for many years. It also provides a scientific basis for the sealant production enterprise to improve product quality, which is safe, reasonable and effective. The use of building sealants has important guiding significance.
In order to promote the scientific and technological progress of Chinas petroleum and chemical industry, Guangzhou Research Institute of Synthetic Materials has transformed this international standard into the national standard GB/T35495-2017, namely, "Test method for the change of cohesive form of elastic sealant after exposure to dynamic artificial weathering", and it was officially released and implemented.
